North Central Weed Science Society - NCWSS

MISSION
The NCWSS delivers research, education, and training to persons responsible for weeds and their management in land use systems.

MEMBERSHIP
We are professionals interested in weed science from many perspectives. Many members are affiliated with universities or the crop protection industry; others are crop consultants, state or federal agency or private research personnel, extension educators and others. Graduate students in weed science are a vibrant and important segment of our membership.

WHAT DO WE DO?
The Society organizes an annual meeting at which papers and posters are presented (including student paper and poster contests), important Society business is transacted, awards are presented and officers are elected. The proceedings of the annual meeting and a Research Report are published annually.

At the summer weed science contest, undergraduate and graduate students are challenged to identify weeds, diagnose crop problems, determine which herbicide was applied to a range of weed and crop species, and calibrate a sprayer.

We publish a newsletter three times a year and maintain a web site with both current and archived information.

Organize symposia on timely topics.
